The Art of Baseball

The Watercolors of James Fiorentino

by James Fiorentino and John Molori
Foreword by Don Mattingly

The Art of Baseball: The Watercolors of James Fiorentino features a compilation of Fiorentino’s most significant works on baseball along with his personal favorites.

This superb collection, hand-selected by the artist himself, presents a chronology of baseball from gritty black-and- white images of vintage ballplayers to vibrant full-color images of modern-day stars. What sets his work apart are the personal friendships Fiorentino has developed with the ballplayers, giving him the insight to portray the spirit and substance of these great athletes. This book includes stories of Fiorentino’s experiences with many subjects he painted, including Yogi Berra, Ted Williams, Cal Ripken Jr., Don Mattingly, Tony La Russa, and World War II-era All-American Girls Professional Baseball League star catcher, Pepper Davis. The Art of Baseball: The Watercolors of James Fiorentino offers readers the story of Fiorentino’s unique connection to baseball and a spectacular, hand-picked selection of his baseball paintings for the first time in book form.
